San Joaquin Political Academy – Class 10

Fast-paced classes with high profile speakers.  Thought-provoking and challenging topics.  The opportunity to debate, practice media interviews, go before the editorial board, review your performance on camera, and learn what it takes to develop your message and your campaign.  This is what the San Joaquin Political Academy offers you.  If you have any interest in running for school board, city council, Board of Supervisors, State or Federal office….take advantage of this class now!  Class 10 begins February 4, 2014 and meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

More than 10 years ago, the Academy was formed to give civic and business leaders an opportunity to learn first-hand about running for office—what it takes, what it means, and how to run an ethical, successful campaign without compromising their values.  The Academy is non-partisan.  Students selected to participate are leaders  who understand that a healthy business climate is fundamental to a strong economy.  And, a strong economy is necessary for a vibrant community.

Past students have enjoyed the classroom debates, the mock media interviews, the opportunity to review their performance on camera as well as to learn what it takes to develop their message and campaign.  We bring the best minds and speakers to you in 14 action-packed classes, including:

  • City ,County and Regional Issues
  • Issues impacting the business environment
  • Making the decision to run
  • Campaign management, fundraising and public relations
  • Developing your brand and your platform
  • Winning with a positive campaign
  • Responding to the media and using them to your advantage
  • And more

The fifty-six hours of class time is guaranteed to challenge your thinking, test and hone your presentation skills, and provide valuable information about many issues facing our community in addition to giving you the A – Z of developing a campaign.

The Academy is a partnership between the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce and the Fresno County Farm Bureau.  We enjoy the support and sponsorship of KMJ Radio, K-Jewel Radio, KYNO Radio, Pacific Gas & Electric, The Business Journal, the Fresno Bee and The Fulton Group.
