On Monday, May 13, The Fresno Chamber of Commerce held our Annual Golf Tournament at the San Joaquin County Club. The well attended event hosted hundreds of golfers, all eager to take home one of the 4 prizes associated with a hole-in-one at the Tournament: two holes at $25,000, one hole at $50,000, and one hole for an IS250 from Fresno Lexus.
As the day was coming to an end, with no big prizes won, volunteers at the club house preparing for dinner and the live auction began to hear cheers erupt from Hole 7 of the Course. Investigation into the cheers revealed that Damon Kurtz of the Fresno Police Officers Association had hit the hole-in-one worth $50,000 and would be taking home the big prize! The excitement was palpable all around the course as fellow golfers made their way over to congratulate Mr. Kurtz.
The Chamber team shared in the delight of the winner, pleased to have such a big winner at the annual event. In the words of Chamber CEO, Al Smith, “You talk about a money hole? That’s a serious one! Without a doubt, our tournament just got even better!”
The Annual Chamber Golf Tournament is a tradition among Fresno’s finest business minded golfers. The new addition of the $100,000 in cash and prizes attached to various holes on the golf course is meant to serve as a defining characteristic for the Chamber’s Tournament, which functions as a major fundraiser for the organization.
