Ribbon cuttings

Supporting the mission of the Fresno Chamber of Commerce is the top priority of the Fresno Chamber Ambassadors. In fact, one of the core objectives of the Chamber is to “provide opportunities to network and build relationships,” and the Chamber Ambassadors help to accomplish this by attending ribbon cuttings for new members.

A ribbon cutting event is a significant benefit to the new member. It gives their business exposure to other business professionals whose goal it is to promote the new member in the community.  Additionally, a picture of the ribbon cutting is nicely placed in the Fresno Chamber Connect Magazine monthly, which is mailed to more than 2,200 businesses and community members, and again on the Chamber’s website, along with a blog written by an Ambassador.

A ribbon cutting event is quite a celebratory event, as it’s usually the culmination of much effort and preparation, maybe even the opening day of the business. Oftentimes, family members, business associates and friends will be in attendance to help celebrate. Once the ribbon is cut, the business owner or manager describes their business in detail and answers any questions.

Ambassadors are genuinely interested in knowing all they can in order to promote the business well. They also appreciate the hopeful atmosphere surrounding the ribbon cutting, as they are a group of business professionals and owners themselves and respect the commitment it takes to conduct business. It’s not unusual for Ambassadors to become customers besides promoters.

With each ribbon cutting, the Ambassadors carry the message of that business with them into their spheres of influence. In doing so, they contribute to the vibrancy of business in Fresno. Participating in ribbon cuttings provides the opportunity to get to know the Fresno business community at a level that goes beyond the superficial by putting you in touch with the ‘heart’ of business.

As a word of encouragement, wouldn’t it be nice to send a congratulations card, note or email to a business celebrating a ribbon cutting? Wouldn’t it be a great surprise to the business if you stopped by and told them you saw their ribbon cutting picture in the Fresno Chamber Connect? If you are interested in becoming a Chamber Ambassador, participating in ribbon cuttings, or any other areas of community support provided by Ambassadors, please contact Terry Graham at the Fresno Chamber.
