The helping hands at Chamber events

  • By: Vickie Goudreau, Fresno Chamber Ambassador Committee Member, Owner at Innovation Commercial Flooring

As Ambassadors, we know working towards the Fresno Chamber’s goal to support the business community often includes unique opportunities which take us beyond the Monthly Mixers or frequent Ribbon Cuttings and into the government sector.  Some of these events include the monthly Eggs & Issues Breakfasts and the annual State of the County Luncheon.  These events draw concerned business people and public servants who are eager to hear about current issues affecting the Valley from public officials and municipal staff.

Depending on the event, the role of Ambassadors can vary from assisting in the distribution of materials to working with Chamber Staff on registration or guiding people to their tables.  While it can be a daunting task to register over 500 people at an event like the State of the City Luncheon, it can be even more so to help them find a seat in a huge auditorium.

However, despite the challenges presented with these tasks, we as Chamber Ambassadors know that the welcome extended by another Fresno Chamber member adds comfort and ease to each person who attends, ensuring an overall pleasant experience.  Even though sometimes helping out on these events demands an early call time, Ambassadors understand the value of their contribution and volunteer eagerly.  The benefits of knowing we’re making Chamber events even better for attendees while also often making new contacts is something that we believe greatly outweighs being a little tired later in the day!
